Invitation to participate: Study on method reproducibility

The Methods Hub team at GESIS is conducting a study as part of the Tier2 project on how easily researchers can reproduce results from computational methods.
Participants will be asked to reproduce one or two methods, either from the Methods Hub or from external platforms such as Hugging Face, using provided code and step-by-step instructions.

for reference I'm looking for
- 512GB+ storage
- 8GB+ RAM (preferably 16GB+)
- 15 inches or higher!!!
- something equivalent to or better than a 10th gen i5
- preferably not plastic because I'm scared of it cracking again but still

fingerprint sensor would be really cool but not necessary. I prefer fuller keyboards (i.e. with a numpad) but I could compromise here.

I feel this bit might be a lot to ask but if this can be done for under £800 that would be amazing!!!

Want to work for the New York City Watershed Program? (Edit: The NYC Watershed program is really cool. Basically instead of spending billions on a massive industrial plant to filter NYC's drinking water, instead, NYC pays money directly to farmers upstate to keep cows and other livestock manure out of the area's streams and thus out of the drinking water reservoirs.)

I have a few MP4 files that have been created on my laptop via OBS Studio (capturing a stream via HDMI).

The videos are about 2 hours long, and I want to trim off the list 20-30 mins. But anything I try to use (CapCut, Clipchamp) turns that 2 hour, 1.5gb file into a 1.5 hour 6gb file.

How can I leave frame rates, encoding etc alone, and literally just trim off extraneous content?

Ich bin auf der Suche nach angenehmer wie lehrreicher Literatur bzgl. Malerei/Zeichnen von Natur/Landschaften/Pflanzen i.S.v. "draußen hinhocken und losmalen".

Talentiert mag ich sein, aber mir fehlt der fachliche Hintergrund bzgl. Komposition, Licht vs. Schatten, Farben, Arbeiten "draußen" mit der Natur als Vorbild als Einstieg zum Üben nach gut 15 Jahren Pinsel-Pause.

Dear FreeBSD nerds, I'm having trouble setting up a service/daemon:
I have installed the RSS reader miniflux (manually), and copied the rc.d script from the ports tree. It's a simple script, runs miniflux as a daemon tells you about the pid and config and so on. miniflux launches and works through my reverse proxy as expected.

The script runs correctly if I run it interactively, that is, I type `sh /usr/local/etc/rc.d/miniflux`, and if I look at `service -e` then it shows in the correct place in the order, but on bootup there's nothing! It's enabled in rc.conf.

I do `dmesg -a | grep miniflux` and there's nothing there, not even a checkyesno. I'm at a loss as to what to investigate. `service miniflux status` shows not running after restart, and running with correct pid if I run the script interactively.

I’m looking for tutorials on how to prepare print files for partial effects such as gold foil or (what I want to do in my case) gloss effect.
Last time I searched I found dozens of them for how to do it with Adobe software, but surely there are others?
Based on experience I do designs like this like once a year or even less… not worth a subscription and even a one-time purchase seems overdone if there’s a free program that could do the job.

Does #CSS have a media-query that lets an element render differently depending on whether it's being printed on the left- or right-side of a page? (And maybe even middle- in the case of single-side printing)

If I can style for that one parameter I think a lot of my typesetting needs would be solved
