Le nettoyeur des étangs - Parmi les nombreux griefs contre le ragondin, il y a son appétit vorace pour la végétation. On accuse souvent le ragondin de détruire des espaces végétaux et d'affaiblir des niches écologiques complètes... En "oubliant" que les milieux où le ragondin fait le plus de dégâts sont surtout les milieux précarisés par les activités humaines (pesticides, pollution, assèchement des terres, destructions, etc.)

En discutant pas mal avec des propriétaires d'étangs, des naturalistes sur le terrain et en comparant pas mal d'observations, on s'aperçoit pourtant que le ragondin peut avoir un rôle "bénéfique" (en tout cas pas si mal perçu). Ainsi lorsqu'il est présent sur les étangs de Sologne, il a tendance à grignoter les herbes nouvelles et à empêcher les roselières de s'étendre trop sur les étangs. (Les étangs de Sologne sont des espaces semi artificiels qui nécessitent un entretien particulier, souvent négligé à cause des logiques de la chasse, si on ne les entretient pas, ils deviennent des marécages).

Certains gestionnaires d'étangs n'ont plus besoin de faucarder les pièces d'eau (enlever les roseaux), ce qui facilite grandement leur tâche (quand ils s'y intéressent un minimum)

Par exemple sur la photo, ce ragondin permet de maintenir un chenal juste devant l'observatoire alors que les iris et les roseaux ont tendance à fermer tout le passage. Comme la gestion de l'étang est particulière (un jour je parlerai des organismes naturalistes-écologistes qui ont une gestion aussi naze que celles des chasseurs), c'est grâce aux ragondins que le site naturel où je vais régulièrement est toujours intéressant et pertinent dans sa mission de sensibilisation à la biodiversité.

Chimpanzees observed an android portraying specific facial expressions, including yawns and gapes. The results showed that adult chimpanzees exhibited across-agent yawn contagion, with a graded response: the highest contagion occurred when the android displayed a fully wide-open mouth (Yawn condition), a reduced response when the mouth was partially opened (Gape condition), and no contagion when the android’s mouth was closed (Close condition). Additionally, chimpanzees engaged in behaviours associated with drowsiness, such as gathering bedding materials, constructing nests, and lying down, while observing the android yawning. This suggests that yawning by an unfamiliar model may act as a contextual cue for rest, rather than merely triggering a motor resonance response. These findings contribute to the understanding of non-human primates’ susceptibility to contagiously induced behaviours, specifically yawns, even when triggered by an artificial agent. This study highlights the role of social factors in shaping yawn contagion and calls for further research on cross-species and cross-agent interactions.

50. Jahrestag des Mordes an Ulrich Schmücker

Heute vor 50 Jahren wurde in Berlin Ulrich Schmücker erschossen. Die #Dokumentation „Der Schmücker Mord" beleuchtet die näheren Umstände des Todes von Ulrich Schmücker, einem Mitglied der Bewegung 2. Juni. Der Fall gilt als einer der größten #Justizskandale der #Bundesrepublik. Das Verfahren wurde vom #Verfassungsschutz und mindestens 2 Staatsanwälten vielfach manipuliert und behindert.

Ulrich #Schmücker wurde noch vor einem geplanten Bombenanschlag festgenommen, und nach einer Aussage gegenüber dem Verfassungsschutz und nach einem 9 monatigen #Gefängnisaufenthalt wieder freigelassen. Danach benutzte der Verfassungsschutz ihn als V-Mann. Die #Spitzeltätigkeit flog auf, nachdem Teile von Schmückers Geständnis in der Szene publik wurden, und seine einstigen Gefährten wandten sich von ihm ab.

Schmücker wurde am 5. Juni 1974 sterbend im #Grunewald aufgefunden, nachdem ihm jemand in den Kopf geschossen hatte.

Welche Rolle spielte dabei der Verfassungsschutz, der eine #Observation Schmückers nur Stunden zuvor abgebrochen hatte? Und wie kam es, dass die Tatwaffe nur Stunde nach der Tat dem involvierten Verfassungsschutzoffizier Michael #Grünhagen angeboten wurde, und danach für 15 Jahre in einem Tresor in einem Gebäude des Verfassungsschutzes in der #Clayallee verschwand?

Ever get the feeling, when learning about something really complex, that you're trying to reach an understand that it just beyond your grasp?

It is quite obvious that the human brain, if narrowly focused enough, and given good enough perceptions, could make sense of pretty much any natural or artificial system.

Not as conscious knowledge, but as instinctual understanding, getting the predictions as gut feelings rather than as analyzable information.

Visceral, not cerebral.

In this light, monotropism could be seen to be an evolutionary counterpart to science. A drive to focus on narrow topics, to build intuitive understanding by hooking the brain to the topic directly, at a much lower level than conscious thought.
