This article is published on a website which is powered by BDServer. And I'm trying to make this website support ActivityPub, so you could for example, subscribe to me from your Mastodon account. Yet it is easier said than done.

If you have any experience with ActivityPub, web-development or Python, please consider helping me. We have BDServ...

Looking to build a #REST #API on top of #nextJS and #prisma. I am not dead set on HAL, JSON-LD or JSON:API but would like to not have to do much work to support either.

I just came across zenstack.dev/ and this seems like a well supported and appears to automate a lot of the effort. Good choice, other options I should look into ..?

The #AI Era is Speedrunning the #Web 2.0 Story: Integrations Will Be Tightly Governed

The Web 2.0 dream of unfettered free exchange evolved into tightly governed one-way interfaces. Today there are plenty of #API(s) to support ad buying and posting on #Facebook, #Google, or #Twitter, but barely any that allow you to consume data.

We’re already seeing a similar narrative play out with #MCP(s).

MCPs are a touchstone #technology, a feature that embodies the dream for what could be. We want #LLM(s) to be able to access our #apps and #data so they can effectively answer questions or perform tasks for us. The problem is each platform likely has its own AI, which they’d prefer we’d use.

Feel free to implement support for it.

  • As of now the only way to properly update things as in removing entries is to literally follow multiple steps by hand:
  1. Export all existing entries manually
  2. Run them against git to see & apply changes and
  3. Build a new list to import and
  4. Manually import said list for "replacement"...

Obviously this is absolutely unelegant and if you can build a workaround woth existing #API|s for #ActivityPub servers like #Mastodon, then that would be a great help.

  • Bonus points if also can differenciate between users and admins and allows i.e. managing instance-wide blocks if desired so administrators can use this to automate fighting #spam and coordinated mass-harrassment campaigns.

Perdnally I wished this tooling wasn't required and eben more that the reasons for such methods didn't exist. Alas it's not in my hands...
