I've always had a hyper active brain so ideas and thoughts that go way beyond the original thought spring to my mind regularly.
I've always wanted to write, make written stories of the things my mind shows me but my attention span is horrible and I get easily frustrated. English is also not my primary language, so that doesn't help either.

Are there tools out there that could help?

When writing short stories or novels, do you use any kind of version control system?

I don't mean just "first draft", "second draft" and so on, but more granular versions where you are able to compare changes in a chapter, undo / reapply them etc?

If so, what kind of software are you using for it?
