And why did it take 10 days for them to decide that Rep #LaMonicaMcIver had assaulted federal agents?

“As a member of #Congress, she has the right & responsibility to see how #ICE is treating detainees. Rather than facilitating that inspection, ICE agents chose to escalate what should have been a peaceful situation into chaos.”

“No one is above the law—politicians or otherwise,”[except #Trump] #AlinaHabba said in a statement. “It is the job of this office to uphold *justice* *impartially*, regardless of who you are. Now we will let the justice system work.”

In a statement on Monday, Rep #LaMonicaMcIver blamed federal law enforcement for instigating the clash, saying that “#ICE agents created an unnecessary & unsafe confrontation.”

#SecretService spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, in a statement, said, “The Secret Service vigorously investigates anything that can be taken as a potential threat against our protectees.”

“We are aware of the social media posts by the former FBI Director [#JamesComey] & we take rhetoric like this very seriously,” Guglielmi said.

“He knew exactly what that meant,” #Trump said in an interview w/ FauxNews, a day after the #DHS & the #SecretService opened an investigation into Comey’s Instagram post.

“A child knows what that meant. If you’re the FBI director & you don’t know ... that meant ‘assassination,’” Trump said.

This morning, Judge Cobb ordered the govt to respond to the plaintiffs filing by 5/21.

In the suit, #FBI agents are asking to destroy & enjoin publication of a list of agents who worked on #Jan6 investigations compiled by fmr Acting Deputy AG & fmr losing #Trump #criminal defense attorney #EmilBove in January.

#EdMartin said he knew that outing #FBI agents violated #policy, but didn't care:

“The system is stifling the truth from coming out because of some procedure.”

Last month, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte, a #Trump appointee, sent a letter to the #DOJ alleging #NYAG #LeticiaJames “falsified records” to obtain favorable loans on a home she purchased in 2023 in Virginia & Brooklyn, the New York Post reported.

In a stmnt, James' lawyer Abbe Lowell called the allegations "baseless & long-discredited."

#NYAG #LeticiaJames has joined attorneys general from other states in challenging #Trump's second-term agenda. After Trump's first term in office, she brought a #civil #fraud lawsuit against him that resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in penalties.

Trump has repeatedly called for the prosecution of James & New York State Justice Arthur #Engoron, the judge who oversaw that case.

In many cases #Trump is relying on, or asserting, unilateral power rather than turning to the courts or federal agencies to carry out his demands. Many of his targets are those who prosecuted or challenged him politically, or are institutions & groups he sees as ideological impediments, like elite #universities.

In the process, #Trump has blurred the personal & the political, making it difficult in some instances, like his targeting of #academic & #cultural institutions, to distinguish between his grievances & policy goals. [hint it’s all always about him, he couldn’t care less about policy]
