#FreeSpeech advocacy group Foundation for Individual Rights & Expression in a stmnt said #JamesComey’s post “is political speech protected by the #FirstAmendment.”

“It neither constitutes a true threat nor merits federal investigation. 86 has a lot of possible meanings, & the idea that spelling it out in seashells & posting it to IG is a true threat is quite a stretch. The admin should drop any investigation of Comey because it’s an unconstitutional waste of time.”

#SecretService spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, in a statement, said, “The Secret Service vigorously investigates anything that can be taken as a potential threat against our protectees.”

“We are aware of the social media posts by the former FBI Director [#JamesComey] & we take rhetoric like this very seriously,” Guglielmi said.

#Trump said Friday that former #FBI Director #JamesComey was “calling for the assassination of the president” in a since-deleted social media post that featured the numbers “8647.”

The numbers were quickly read by people in Trump’s cult as Comey calling for people to “86,” or get rid of, the 47th president of the United States — Trump.

#KashPatel kept saying he would not “go backwards” when asked if he’ll investigate #Trump’s perceived enemies, not a real answer, #criminal investigations, by their very nature, look backward to determine who may have committed a crime.

Patel refused to say whether or not he would use his position to investigate the fmr #FBI dir #JamesComey or others on his #EnemiesList saying only that he would abide by the #law & #Constitution. Sen #MazieHirono correctly says he didn’t answer the questions.
