Blogged: "HowTo: Fix your ESP32 C3’s Bootloader after you messed it up!"
I've been playing with an esp32-c3 super mini, testing out a home monitoring idea and quickly run into a tall wall regarding power use. The device is now just a simple BLE temperature sensor that wakes up every minute from deep sleep to advertise. Hooking it up to a power module powered by 9v battery supplying 3.3v, the battery got depleted within 15 minutes Also, there's no way I can put this sensor around the apartment where even just one wall prevents scanners from picking up its payloads.
It’s time for new projects. Like this small version of the Space Clock as an LED matrix.
It opens up even more possibilities.
We have a domain now! It doesn't do much so I added a preview of the thing! Kicad generating the model as glb and used Google's Model Viewer library to render it directly in your browser!
(This is not affiliated to or even related to other products or companies named or named around sidekick or meet sidekick or more!)
More multi-SPI display messing around. This time using Waveshare Zero format boards, finding a common way to drive them from a RP2040, ESP32S3 or ESP32C3.
I hadn't realised SPI on the ESP32S3 was so complex!
(or that finding some common physical pins across the range required so much software messing about too).

Part 6 pairs the Synth module with a XIAO expander for some simple IO.

First steps with the XIAO ESP32-C3 and SAM2965 based Synth module.

Success on real hardware!
This is the f9 microkernel ported to RISC-V, specifically ESP32C3, by Ruben Sevaldson, a former student of mine at NTNU in 2022 – plus a small Lisp machine running on top.
Now let's see why this doesn't work in qemu for esp32c3...

Weekend hobby project: how to install WLED directly from a web browser to ANAVI Miracle Emitter, an open-source hardware development board with XIAO #ESP32C3 #RISCV ?
WLED is a popular open-source project for controlling NeoPixelLEDs. It supports ESP32 and ESP8266 MCUs and runs a local HTTP server with a modern UI.
As you can see in the video, setting up WLED is incredibly easy. You can install and configure it directly from a web browser, with no coding required!

Just had a bit of a deep-dive into two new topics:
First: Various I2C connections - Stemma, Qwiic, etc
Then: A cheap, and largely undocumented ESP32C3 OLED board.
