My previous attempt at freeing myself from #Youtube was an abject failure. I ended up back on it, albeit on a Youtube-only Google account.
I think it is time to have another go. This time I have Reeder on MacOS and iOS, which gets around most of Youtube's issues.
I'm not short of other entertainment options, so I should just stick to those. #degoogle

Today on the degoogling journey: How can I make the best out of a Pixel's camera on #GrapheneOS? 
The default camera app doesn't begin to exploit all the nice things that the Pixel camera hardware can do, and I do want nice things. 
Installing the Google camera means having to install the Google gallery to open the pictures and more google crap, and I don't want to go to a sandbox profile every time I'd like to take a picture.

Finally, Iʼm encountering more people referring to de-Googling. Only been saying it since 2009, and I know even then I wasnʼt the first, since (ironically) I Googled the term to see who else used it. (Someone called Lee Hinman.)

For users who just want instant messaging & group-chat, is it worth mentioning Delta Chat?
It leverages email, so all it needs is for the user to make an email address for it, which is an achievable goal for most people.
Obviously I accept Signal is the easiest to "sell", because it has voice/video calling, and we can just say it's the one US cabinet members use, so it's sort of a "household name".
Or... switch to Kagi, where disabling this feature is as simple as flipping an "off" toggle in the settings. It remains inactive unless you choose to enable it, and you also have the option to filter out AI-generated images from your search results:

After a test of #eos Android on an old Google Pixel 4a I decided to buy a Fairphone5 from the Murena website with the system pre-installed on it.
Very, very happy so far!

Google is certainly making it harder for the Android Open Source Project. But the community is clever, and will develop around their roadblocks.
In the end, it may create a great opportunity for someone like Framework to create upgradable mobile hardware that supports open source OSs like AOSP and/or Linux.
