Fritz Lang's cruelty to his actors was legendary here. Peter Lorre was thrown down the stairs into the cellar over a dozen times.When Lang wanted to hire Lorre for "Human Desire" over two decades later, the actor refused.
The tune that Peter Lorre's character whistles is "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from the "Peer Gynt" suite by Edvard Grieg.

A cover version of David Sylvian's song "Snow White in Appalachia" from the album "Manafon". The original consists of voice, piano and an improvising string quartet, so I used arpeggiated synthesizers and added drums and some sounds from Reaktor.

I am watching #FritzLang‘s unacclaimed final #film, the third in his otherwise celebrated #DrMabuse series, The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse. It’s not as bad as I expected, but although it’s supposed to be an expressionist antifascist allegory about an evil criminal mastermind who may have risen from the dead to cause world chaos, it seems like it’s more about buxom women bending over in low-cut dresses.
