Sunday soldering.

One of those crappy garden solar lights we found here. They're never waterproof, because then they wouldn't break and you wouldn't buy more.

Here a pin to the YX8018 controller chip corroded away, flush with the TO-94 housing. I crudely crushed away enough of the housing resin to expose the remaining lead inside and soldered a new wire to it.

Works again, although I'll also have to put a recycled battery in, as the miniscule 40 mAh Ni-MH pack has about 2 mAh actual capacity remaining.

Tip: If you did buy one of these crappy lamps, squirt some silicone caulking in the joints to make them waterproof.

[FIXED?] Browning BL-22 misfires
Next to some other issues that I have with my Browning BL22 is that it very often misfires. And after a lot of thinking, trial and error, I think I have found the issue. Remember the post about the little plate that came loose? The misfires are related to this as far as I have been able to figure out. There is a locking block that locks itself via this little plate. …

Today I
* stressed over a failed $51 payment and spent a while on hold trying to find out what to do about it (more #mutualaid would definitely help here)
* made more progress on the solar panel bumper (drilled holes in the wood pieces and fastened most of them together, except for the top side expansion piece that has to be cut lengthways and is taking much effort so I am cutting it a bit at a time),
* fixed my saw's (missing screw to hold on its handle) problem with a coach bolt and nut,
* made a start on chopping up the motor housing for the swing arm motor I removed from the front of the bus yesterday,
* dismantled a higgledy-piggledy ladder for its wood and screws,
* and enjoyed some nice sandwiches.

#Fixed!
