👋 Hi, I’m Maksym Kondratiew — a designer who got tired of screens and turned to wood, glass, and light.

I used to design interfaces, reaching millions through pixels. But over time, that contact felt hollow. I needed a different connection — not through cursors, but through my hands. That’s how my lamps were born.

They are more than just light. They are a way to slow down the chaos. To take something old, forgotten — and give it new life. Each lamp I make comes from real materials, real effort, and a real desire to create warmth, not just a “product.”

I’m not an industrial designer. I’m a product, furniture, and freeform designer. My work doesn’t shout — it glows.

Here I share my process, struggles, inspiration, and growth. If you’re drawn to the kind of light our grandfathers might have passed down — light that warms rather than blinds — you’re in the right place.

Through design, I change the world — even if just for a few evenings in someone’s home.

This task is kind of delayed because the clay is sabotaging the perfect circularity of my pieces 😂.

Because of the unorthodox shape for a ceramic piece, the circle dries unevenly and ends up becoming an ellipse 🤨.

Slow drying over several days didn't work either. So I turned to the wisdom of r/Ceramics on Reddit to see how I could fix it and they threw out a few ideas that I need to try.

To be continued...

The things this new screen design aims to improve are:

- Ease of assembly. Placing the LED in place while tightening the screws was no fun at all 🤯.

- Mounting the LED with connectors instead of soldering it, to make it easier to repair 🛠.

- Avoiding the cable and screws being visible through the gap between the heatsink and the screen.

- Improving the airflow through the heatsink by creating a chimney effect.
