Virgile Andreani ⏚ 🇵🇸J'ai terminé ce livre la semaine dernière. La démarche est originale : c'est ce qu'on pourrait qualifier de science science-fictionnelle, c'est-à-dire l'anticipation de recherches scientifiques dans une discipline qui n'existe pas encore mais qui pourrait se développer : la linguistique et littérature animale. Après deux courtes nouvelles sur l'expression vibratoire des araignées et sur l'architecture fécale des wombats avec leurs crottes cubiques, un texte plus long relate un programme scientifique ambitieux d'interprétation des communications animales et notamment la traduction et l'interprétation d'un texte rédigé par un poulpe avec son encre sur des fragments de poterie. C'est évidemment un défi d'écriture, parce que le livre se veut documenté et sourcé dans son aspect documentaire, tout en imaginant des développements scientifiques plausibles sur l'échelle d'un ou deux siècles. J'ai d'ailleurs eu un peu de mal à accorder ma suspension d'incrédulité, à cause de ce mélange entre fiction et réalité, qui est en général plutôt normal et pas dérangeant dans la science-fiction, mais je pense que la forme de ces textes (rapports scientifiques, retranscription de conférence, échanges scientifiques par email) créait pour moi une impression de « vallée étrange » (uncanny valley). Je le recommande quand même, ne serait-ce que parce que je trouve qu'il aide à rendre concrète l'idée de mondes partagés et d'animaux comme sujets et pas simplement objets de notre monde, idée abondamment développée dans "The Wake of Crows", très bon livre de Thom van Dooren dont j'avais déjà parlé il y a quelques mois.<a href="https://social.sciences.re/tags/VendrediLecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#VendrediLecture</a>
