Dear Fediverse,,

A friend of mine wants to get into scientific #Python (specifically for chemical engineering needs). He works in a corporation that doesn't allow Anaconda to be installed in their corporate environment (probably due to licence fees). As he's not an experienced user, a no-frills Python distribution would be good to allow for painfree NumPy, SciPy, Jupyter, Spyder, etc. ... so not vanilla core Python.

Any suggestions? #WinPython maybe?

Q: What do these three things all have in common?

👩‍🏫 Teaching scientists to share their code
🛠️ Maintaining a smaller Python package
🌸 Being the Executive Director and Founder of a nonprofit

A: Each of these three perspectives shares the same challenges that users face in navigating the Python packaging ecosystem!
