Beim #rp25 Panel zu #PublicAI, weißt Nicolas Zehner darauf hin, dass #KI Forschung viele Jahrzehnte über privatisiert war. Die dadurch vom Silicon Valley geprägten Narrative über KI müssen wir hinterfragen, ohne KI komplett abzulehnen. Wir müssen kritisch mit und durch diese Technologien denken. Dann können Universitäten eine große Rolle dabei spielen, KI fürs #Gemeinwohl zu
entwickeln.

Ich durfte gestern beim Pädagogischen Tag eines Gymnasiums vortragen über "KI - Bildung - Gerechtigkeit". Dafür ist u.a. diese Folie entstanden.
Mir geht es darum, das Paradigma von #KI als optionalem Werkzeugkasten ebenso hinter uns zu lassen, wie das Paradigma von KI als Naturgewalt.
Stattdessen schlage ich vor, die Ambivalenzen von KI kritisch-konstruktiv anzugehen als Aufforderung nach partizipativer Mündigkeit.

The Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative announced that in order to support non-profit medical research they are building "computing infrastructure" - that is, purchasing over a 1000 state of the art GPUs.
This is super interesting, in an AI-powered world compute is not a commodity, but a currency.
So if a private foundation can do it, why can't governments do the same? Seems that providing public interest compute infrastructure is one of the simpler move that can be made, as the comples governance issues are solved in parallel.
