Is there a #servo binary I can try? I was one those that were still using #konqueror when #firefox was clearly the winner, and I want to feel that rush again.

In my "testing" #XFCE has been running very well with no noticeable issues. #Gnome looked good but ran slow and #LXDE had lots of glitches with the DE setup. I installed #JWM (have not tested) and plan to install #KDE to try out if available.
Web browsers are a very meh. #Dillo works okay, but is not great for "modern" websites. #Chromium (from Orange Pi) works okay but is very slow; standard Chromium is not available. #Epiphany was sooooo slow that is was not usable. #Konqueror installed but was missing dependencies to function. #Surf is working okay; good for basic sites but chugs on more demanding sites like Youtube.
Terminal apps all seem to be working fine. Simple apps like #GoodVibes and #Kpat work with out issues.
3D Games were not playable if they even loaded up. #Minetest opened but was like 1 frame per 3 seconds. #TuxCart installed but would not open.
So far on the #OrangePiRV2 the definitive winners are XFCE, Sakura (teminal), GoodVibes, Kpat, and #plank
Yeah, it's a pity that there's no way to get to #WebKit through #Qt anymore. Somewhat ironic, since Webkit was forked from from #Konqueror, which was a #KDE project built on Qt.
There's also #Suckless Surf as an über-minimalistic browser (not too bad as an #SSB, honestly), but it's not a serious contender for daily driving. I don't even daily drive #LuaKit, and I love vim-style programs.
With #Mozilla #Firefox going to hell in a handbasket, I briefly wondered if I should go back to #Konqueror as my daily driver.
Sadly, it is using an ancient version of #Chromium and is therefore insecure.
#Falkon and #PrivacyBrowser seem to be the replacements for Konqueror, but…correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like #QtWebEngine in #Debian is getting timely #security updates either.
Sigh. I'm going to end up forced to use a #browser from Flatpak, aren't I?
@kdedude @EikeHein @tde I am not sure what the phrase "a Real KHTML browser" actual means.
KHTML is a discontinued browser engine that was developed by the KDE project. It originated as the engine of the Konqueror browser in the late 1990s, but active development ceased in 2016. It was officially discontinued in 2023.
Potzblitz.

#Mozilla has long lost its way.
I get that nobody wants to trust #Chromium based #browsers because of the evil #Google-plex, but in reality ever since Mozilla started pushing telemetry and experiments on its users Mozilla hasn't acted much better.
Google will win, at least for a time, until a new #browser comes along.
If people put as much money and resources into #KDE and #Konqueror we could have an actual competitor to Chromium but nobody wants to do that.

@nixCraft I’ve been a long-time #Safari (on macOS) and #Konqueror then #Epiphany (on Linux) user because I favor small and standard-compliant engines. And because Safari is so much more battery efficient. However, there are always web tools that don‘t work - mostly things like Zoom, Teams, etc. Those I use with #Chrome which has better options for screen sharing, recording, etc. - but I want to switch to #Firefox now because I don’t trust Google anymore.
@strypey @aral
Agreed! Although #Firefox may be the best we've got for now.
Of course there are #Epiphany, #Konqueror and other FOSS browsers, but I think developing an up-to-date (let alone secure) web browser is a serious effort.
Btw, I do use #Librewolf as my main browser, but if Firefox were to end, I'm not sure they will be able to keep it going by themselves.
If you ask me, the top approach was #KDE's with #Konqueror and #KPart: reusable components like text editor, shell, document viewer and web browser that could be re-mixed in different apps including an all-in-one like Konqueror
"There is a problem with your Microsoft computer. Hackers have placed files on your computer. We need to fix that."
