I think that wasn't handled well on both sides.
But IMHO you shouldn't stress about stuff like that: let people do their thing, do your own thing, don't create drama.
Nobody profits from drama, but everyone profits from cooperation and more choices. Don't worry about the few haters as there are far more supporters!

I love your work. As a developer I know how hard it is to get it just right and how much work you have to put in.
Don't let some people that don't understand the complexity of what you're trying to achieve drag you down. There will always a minority that will tell you that you're doing it wrong.
Some opinions are valid, others are just BS. Engange in constructive discussions with first ones and ignore the latter ones. Everything else will just be unproductive.
