DJ Fragile Toolchains<p>Just sent out a bunch of decision emails. I'm *excited* about this! <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/writethedocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>writethedocs</span></a></p>
Phil Davis<p>We added a "Release Notes" field to Jira as part of a project to automate release comms. Devs &amp; QA folks are using it a lot. This unpromoted field is seeing better adoption than anything else we've rolled out ever. Now to rename to "User Release Notes" to scare folks away &amp; maybe add "Engineering Release Notes" to keep the momentum up.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/techWriterLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techWriterLife</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/technicalWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>technicalWriting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/writeTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>writeTheDocs</span></a></p>
Phil Davis<p>I spent 3 hours "fixing" a feature that hadn't been documented sufficiently… in my own scripts. It is very well documented now.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/techWriterLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techWriterLife</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/technicalWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>technicalWriting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/writeTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>writeTheDocs</span></a></p>

Amy Hupe<p>Just a couple of tickets left now for my Writing design systems documentation session at 10am-1pm next Thursday, 29 May.</p><p>If you're available and want to learn how to create docs people can find, understand and use, I'd love to have you.</p><p>Tell your friends!</p><p><a href="https://bit.ly/4j2rW2D" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">bit.ly/4j2rW2D</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.design.systems/tags/UXWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UXWriting</span></a> <a href="https://social.design.systems/tags/WriteTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WriteTheDocs</span></a> <a href="https://social.design.systems/tags/DesignSystems" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DesignSystems</span></a></p>
Dysmorphia💛🤍💜🖤<p>I impulsively signed up for a lightning talk at <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/WriteTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WriteTheDocs</span></a> today. To my surprise, I got chosen and so prepared a 5 minute version of my Haunted Manuals series over lunch and presented it. I had a lot of fun! Maybe I’ll actually finish the blog post series this year. <a href="https://rinsemiddlebliss.com/posts/2023-08-11-haunted-manuals/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">rinsemiddlebliss.com/posts/202</span><span class="invisible">3-08-11-haunted-manuals/</span></a></p>
schratze<p>Anyone attending the <a href="https://todon.nl/tags/WriteTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WriteTheDocs</span></a> online conference today? (today for me, tomorrow for some of you)</p>
Daniel D. Beck<p>I liked watching Andrea Kao’s FOSS Backstage talk, particularly the way Andrea talked about the word “content”: it doesn't just diminish the work, it also diminishes the people do the work. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmwpPyrrPdY" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">youtube.com/watch?v=lmwpPyrrPdY</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> </p><p>I took some longer notes here: <a href="https://ddbeck.com/notes/diminishing-content/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ddbeck.com/notes/diminishing-c</span><span class="invisible">ontent/</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WriteTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WriteTheDocs</span></a></p>

QUnit<p>I'm drafting a diagram to explain how before/after hooks work in unit tests.</p><p>They tend to work the same way across test frameworks, so it's not unique to QUnit. But, new devs will learn this for the first time, so I think it's worth explaining.</p><p>Page:<br><a href="https://qunitjs.com/api/QUnit/module/#hooks" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">qunitjs.com/api/QUnit/module/#</span><span class="invisible">hooks</span></a></p><p>Issue tracker:<br><a href="https://github.com/qunitjs/qunit/issues/1358#issuecomment-2614663327" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/qunitjs/qunit/issue</span><span class="invisible">s/1358#issuecomment-2614663327</span></a></p><p>What do you think?</p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/qunit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qunit</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/WriteTheDocs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WriteTheDocs</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/TechnicalWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechnicalWriting</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SoftwareDocumentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SoftwareDocumentation</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/documentation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>documentation</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/devex" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>devex</span></a></p>
