Yes, I do. I very much enjoy writing "descriptive" scenes. You see, I'm a Charles Dickens fan. Yeah, so sue me. I know very well that "descriptive" scenes cause the action to stop, so if it is going to be purely descriptive it had better bring in all the senses, serve a higher purpose in the story, and enchant the reader. When I can, I try to weave dialogue and action throughout the "descriptive" scene to carry the reader's senses along with the action. It's really a balancing act, and more often than not, some of it gets cut during revision.This calls for a brief <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/excerpt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#excerpt</a> of a "descriptive" passage with a lot of important information for the novella.
