Here's an example of a game that uses it <a href="https://defold.itch.io/climberz" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank">https://defold.itch.io/climberz</a>. When you visit it with a browser that has monetization turned on it removes ads. It's open source so you can see how they do it.

But then once big tech decided that limiting reach was more profitable, going back to a protocol to avoid corporate control via email newsletters became popular.
