Ricós<p>Tint2 looks like my kind of dock, but I can't find a way to make it dodge windows like the Plasma taskbar does, and I've read the wiki.</p><p>I mean, stay visible when there are no windows in the way, hide when a window overlaps it. Can it be done?</p><p>Tint2: <a href="https://gitlab.com/o9000/tint2" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">gitlab.com/o9000/tint2</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/askFedi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>askFedi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/Tint2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Tint2</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/panel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>panel</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/dock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dock</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.art/tags/ricing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ricing</span></a></p>

Two "middle of the road" laptops from 2008 and 2013, respectively. Finally until recently, my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> workstation running an AMD FX-8350, 32GB RAM, and an GeForce 650 Ti with the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/nv" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nv</span></a> driver. It ran this for over a decade until the motherboard died. These three machines all had spindle drives.</p><p>Sure, the last machine was fairly beefy but it served its original purpose at the time and then was repurposed several times over. I'd have kept using it but the motherboard died.</p><p>From graphical environments to web browsers, many mainstream tools are absolute resource hogs these days - and there are a *plethora* of lightweight alternatives available.</p>
