It is said that Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on this door. These theses launched the <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Protestant?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Protestant</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Reformation?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Reformation</a> in 1517, resulting in the birth of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Protestantism?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Protestantism</a>.<br> <br> Of course this is not the original door from back then. It burned down in 1760 in the Seven Years' War, together with most of the church, and was replaced. These <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/bronze?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#bronze</a> doors were installed on Luther's 375th birthday in 1858, with his theses inscribed in Latin. Today, the doors are only used for special occasions. And for photos of course.
