Patrick Dersjant RCX<p>In testing a postgres upgrade (13-&gt;15) for our mastodon-servcer, I run into a fatal error 'Your installation contains user-defined objects that refer tointernal polymorphic functions with arguments of type "anyarray" or "anyelement". Haven't been able to find a fix for this online, and there seems to be no logfile to pinpoint the cause. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? <a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/techquestion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techquestion</span></a> <a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/mastoadmin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mastoadmin</span></a> <a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/postgres" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postgres</span></a></p>
xoron :verified:<p>Are Web Components &amp; Cybersecurity A Better Combo?</p><p>I'm not trying to dunk on popular <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/UI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UI</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/frameworks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>frameworks</span></a> – I'm sure they're totally fine for <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/cybersecurity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cybersecurity</span></a> stuff, probably get loads of reviews and <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/audits" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>audits</span></a>.</p><p>But from my angle: Web Components are *native* to the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/browser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>browser</span></a>. Doesn't that just inherently reduce the risk of **<a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/SupplyChainAttacks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SupplyChainAttacks</span></a>** (you know, like a rogue `npm install` on a bad network) for your <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/AppSecurity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AppSecurity</span></a>?</p><p>Or am I overthinking it, and the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/framework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>framework</span></a> choice is less important than the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/browser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>browser</span></a>, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/OS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OS</span></a>, or <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/device" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>device</span></a> running it? What are your thoughts, <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/DevCommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DevCommunity</span></a>?</p><p>---</p><p>Quick context: I've got a <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/ReactJS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ReactJS</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/messagingApp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>messagingApp</span></a> (repo here: <a href="https://github.com/positive-intentions/chat" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/positive-intentions</span><span class="invisible">/chat</span></a>) and a separate <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/UIFramework" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UIFramework</span></a> (repo here: <a href="https://github.com/positive-intentions/dim" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">github.com/positive-intentions</span><span class="invisible">/dim</span></a>) built with <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/Lit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Lit</span></a> (which uses Web Components). I'm genuinely wondering if there's a compelling <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/cybersecurity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cybersecurity</span></a> reason to refactor the chat app to use my <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/WebComponent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebComponent</span></a> UI framework. Might be a whole new level of <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/SecurityByDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SecurityByDesign</span></a> for <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/FrontEndDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FrontEndDev</span></a>.</p><p>FYI, same question's on Reddit here: <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/comments/1lmk1rg/are_web_components_better_for_cybersecurity/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs/c</span><span class="invisible">omments/1lmk1rg/are_web_components_better_for_cybersecurity/</span></a>, got some good <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/insights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>insights</span></a>, but want to make sure nothing's getting overlooked! It would cache so when I don't have internet access, I could browse the small web and enjoy great articles. I could also give access to interested friends and family.</p><p>Do you have suggestions other than <a href="https://cr8r.gg/tags/yacy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>yacy</span></a> and <a href="https://cr8r.gg/tags/wiby" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wiby</span></a>?</p><p>Yacy seems better but the search quality is not good. Seth Of The Fediverse!<p>Technical Question: I have two HDMI monitors but my graphics card only has an HDMI port for 1 HDMI input. How can I split two monitors to work on a machine like this? Simon<p>If I do incremental backups, so each backup only saves the files that changed since last backup, does that mean it also deletes files that I deleted since last backup? Or does it keep everything and when I restore my backup some day it'll also bring back tons of files I deleted long ago?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/TechQuestion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechQuestion</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a></p>
Xanatos :godot:<p>It does need to trigger the "delete project" feature for all assigned projects. DaniPanic<p>Hey there, Apple Fediverse users! I've got a friend who's giving Mastodon a try (for a second time). She's having trouble finding a decent client app - she's tried Mammoth and Metatext, and neither were to her liking, and she isn't comfortable using Xcode to install Feditext on her device.</p><p>What other decent clients are there for Mastodon on Apple? :blobcatthinking: <a href="https://girlcock.club/tags/techquestion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techquestion</span></a> <a href="https://girlcock.club/tags/apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>apple</span></a> <a href="https://girlcock.club/tags/iphone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iphone</span></a> <a href="https://girlcock.club/tags/techsupport" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>techsupport</span></a></p>

Amanda Weaver<p>I'm realizing one of the things I depended on twitter for was feeding me content in one convenient place. I could follow Smitten Kitchen, Tom &amp; Lorenzo, and The Fugg Girls and get their up-to-date posts all in one place. I'm now checking in on websites individually, but is there a way to get notices of updates? I'm not tech savvy (at all) but is that what an RSS feed does? And if so, is there an "idiot's guide" to setting one up? <a href="https://romancelandia.club/tags/TechQuestion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechQuestion</span></a></p>
