Sarcasm And Stardust<p>They don’t orbit stars. They don’t glow. There might be billions of them. Rogue planets drift through the dark - frozen, silent and maybe alive. You're not ready for how weird this gets. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RoguePlanets" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RoguePlanets</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SpaceNerd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SpaceNerd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Astrobiology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Astrobiology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CosmicMystery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CosmicMystery</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Space" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Space</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Universe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Universe</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ScienceContent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScienceContent</span></a></p><p><a href="https://sarcasmandstardust.com/the-reality-of-rogue-planets/?utm_source=mastodon&amp;utm_medium=jetpack_social" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">sarcasmandstardust.com/the-rea</span><span class="invisible">lity-of-rogue-planets/?utm_source=mastodon&amp;utm_medium=jetpack_social</span></a></p>

Fraser Cain<p>Hundreds of Free-Floating Planets Found in the Orion Nebula</p><p>New data from JWST have revealed 540 planetary-mass objects in the Orion Nebula and Trapezium Cluster. The masses of these objects are well below the traditional cutoff for a deuterium-burning brown dwarf, even down to 0.6 Jupiter mass - not much more massive than Saturn. Many of these objects are in wide binaries with stars, which challenges current theories of star and planetary formation, which would expect to find planets close to their stars. Is this how rogue planets form?</p><p><a href="https://m.universetoday.com/tags/jwst" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jwst</span></a> <a href="https://m.universetoday.com/tags/rogueplanets" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rogueplanets</span></a></p><p><a href="http://arxiv.org/abs/2310.01231" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">http://</span><span class="">arxiv.org/abs/2310.01231</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
