The collective noun for a group of buffalo is a "obstinacy". Clearly, these are hard-headed beasts. These ones have drawn a line in the sand. I dare you to cross it. Technically, these are American bison (Bison bison), known colloquially in North America as 'buffalo'. This amuses me, because I imagine them smacking their tentacles together in some sort of deepsea high five. Mathieu LommenAmsterdam had its own, rational Art Nouveau variant. This was fueled by the theosophical movement then in vogue. Designer-architect Mathieu Lauweriks was a leading representative. Klaas van Leeuwen also moved in these circles. I wrote an article on his 1907 "Letterboek"; it was recently published open access in "Quærendo" (link below).
