Magic CauldronDecided on a pattern for my Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt an started to sew a test. My plan - so far - is to use no newly produced fabric. I made the first flowers out of a rest of my 1. medieval-byzantine garb, an old jumpsuit of my kid (woodland critters), a shirt I never wore and a vintage fabric scrap. The border of the flower (or the "ways" between the flowers in the garden, there will also be "leafs" in various shades of green) consists of second hand cloth, I hope I have enough of it. I had the luck to find second hand some vintage fabric from a quilter (may the earth be light on her). I bought ~ 4 Kg fabric online really cheap and without really knowing what was in it, only because of some turquoise cotton fabric I saw on a crappy photo. I gambled a bit and was rewarded. When I opened the parcel I was so happy to find that there were several pieces of (vintage and modern) damask bedclothes included, hand died in green, olive and turquoise. This Is My GlasgowSaint John's the Evangelist Church in Barrhead near Glasgow. It was designed by Thomas S. Cordiner and was built in 1961. This four level Cairo tiling has two kinds of transitions. The first transition uses a rhombus (visible in some parts of the original paving). The second transition uses irregular quadrilaterals radiating from a vertex. I want to make a classic grandma's flowergarden Quilt for me to sleep under when it's cold and I try to use mostly upcycled fabric for this project. (So - if you have old clothes or cloth made from woven cotton/viscose with a nice floral pattern that you don't want anymore - I'm your person!) This cloth I'm using here is from a beloved jumpsuit from my kid, which is too small now. Other flowers I made from a beautiful indian top I never wore.
