<a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/retrorock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrorock</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/Bluesrock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bluesrock</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/stonerRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>stonerRock</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/fuzzrock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fuzzrock</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/psychedelicrock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>psychedelicrock</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/apewards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>apewards</span></a></p><p><a href="https://www.burnyourears.de/reviews/genres/rock-hard-rock/54550-apewards-liminal-choices.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">burnyourears.de/reviews/genres</span><span class="invisible">/rock-hard-rock/54550-apewards-liminal-choices.html</span></a></p>
Jake in the desert<p><a href="https://c.im/tags/NowPlaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NowPlaying</span></a> something I ran across the other day - Columbus, Ohio's BRIDESMAID is two bass players &amp; a drummer. No vocals. Song titles are weird riffs on peoples' names, and it sounds thunderous and sludgy and catchy and doomy and fucking AWESOME. They have two LPs, the first of which from 2013 is called 'Breakfast at Riffany's 😂 : <a href="https://bridesmaid.bandcamp.com/album/breakfast-at-riffanys" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bridesmaid.bandcamp.com/album/</span><span class="invisible">breakfast-at-riffanys</span></a></p><p>and then of course you have 2016's International House of Mancakes: <a href="https://bridesmaid.bandcamp.com/album/international-house-of-mancakes" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bridesmaid.bandcamp.com/album/</span><span class="invisible">international-house-of-mancakes</span></a></p><p>Play them LOUD</p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/riffs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>riffs</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FuzzRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FuzzRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/instrumental" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>instrumental</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/StonerRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StonerRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ColumbusOhio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ColumbusOhio</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/OhioBands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OhioBands</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Bridesmaid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bridesmaid</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/sludge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sludge</span></a> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://metalhead.club/@wendigo" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>wendigo</span></a></span></p>
Jake in the desert<p><a href="https://c.im/tags/NowPlaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NowPlaying</span></a> this wild new band I found the other day-- they're called The Lotts, they're from Warrington, UK, and this is their most recent EP, 'Ice Cold': <a href="https://thelotts.bandcamp.com/album/ice-cold" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">thelotts.bandcamp.com/album/ic</span><span class="invisible">e-cold</span></a></p><p>It came out in 2022, but it sounds like it could've come out in the 60s. They also have some newer singles from 2024 on Spotify, if you choose to brave that wasteland.</p><p>At first I heard a definite Stones influence, then Beatles, both of whom were influenced Chuck Berry, who I also hear. I hear some Kinks too, and maybe even Zombies. And as <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://metalhead.club/@wendigo" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>wendigo</span></a></span> pointed out, there's some Blue Cheer in there. Great, simple blues-based fuzzed out rock with catchy, killer songs. </p><p>More of this, less of everything else.</p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/GarageRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GarageRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FuzzRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FuzzRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/BluesRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BluesRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/GaragePunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaragePunk</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/punk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>punk</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/RockNRoll" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RockNRoll</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Warrington" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Warrington</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/UK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UK</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/UKBands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UKBands</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/UKPunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UKPunk</span></a></p>
Jake in the desert<p><a href="https://c.im/tags/NowPlaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NowPlaying</span></a> Blue Cheer's 'Vincebus Eruptum' from 1968. Thanks to <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://metalhead.club/@wendigo" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>wendigo</span></a></span> for tipping me off to this. I think I'd heard a cover of Summertime Blues but never this whole record. It's rad as FUCK. Like a more psych Sonics or almost Kinks, with some great, extreme fuzz too- bluesy psych rock or "acid rock". Mudhoney definitely took a cue or two from these guys, too. A KILLER listen.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLP7u94NwnE9yNgZAalghlN34NUQF4ktVh" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/playlist?list=PLP7</span><span class="invisible">u94NwnE9yNgZAalghlN34NUQF4ktVh</span></a></p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/BlueCheer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BlueCheer</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/60sBands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>60sBands</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/60sAlbums" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>60sAlbums</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/psych" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>psych</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/fuzz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fuzz</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FuzzRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FuzzRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/PsychRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PsychRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/AcidRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AcidRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/GarageRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GarageRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ProtoPunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ProtoPunk</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/blues" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>blues</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/BluesRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BluesRock</span></a></p>

Jake in the desert<p>In music information very few to no people will care about, I discovered today that a band (project) I really like on Big Neck Records called Beasteater (<a href="https://bigneckrecords1.bandcamp.com/album/beasteater" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bigneckrecords1.bandcamp.com/a</span><span class="invisible">lbum/beasteater</span></a>) is actually a collection of people from other bands. </p><p>And that led me to discover the equally as amazing Choke Chains (<a href="https://slovenly.bandcamp.com/album/choke-chains-choke-chains-lp" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">slovenly.bandcamp.com/album/ch</span><span class="invisible">oke-chains-choke-chains-lp</span></a> -- and that's the garage/punk band, not the industrial act of same name) who had their album linked here released on Slovenly Records. </p><p>Choke Chains has the same singer etc (Tommy Potter) as the Beasteater record, so it has that same raunchy, fuzzy feel.</p><p>Catch all that?</p><p>Anyway, both of these albums rip.</p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/GarageRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GarageRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/TrashRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TrashRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FuzzRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FuzzRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/punk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>punk</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/PunkRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PunkRock</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/GaragePunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GaragePunk</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Bandcamp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bandcamp</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/BigNeckRecords" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BigNeckRecords</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Beasteater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Beasteater</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ChokeChains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ChokeChains</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/SlovenlyRecords" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SlovenlyRecords</span></a></p>
