The MES Times<p>Researchers at MIT are breaking new ground in robotics by harnessing the power of live muscle tissue from mouse cells to propel "biohybrid" robots. These innovative robots combine synthetic components with natural actuators, allowing them to move in response to muscle contractions. By integrating muscle fibers onto a flexible skeletal structure, the team has created a breakthrough in soft robotics technology.</p><p> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/MIT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MIT</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/BiohybridRobots" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BiohybridRobots</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/SoftRobotics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SoftRobotics</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/MouseCells" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MouseCells</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/RoboticsInnovation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RoboticsInnovation</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/MedicalTechnology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MedicalTechnology</span></a></p>
The MES Times<p>Caltech researchers have developed biohybrid robotic jellyfish for ocean exploration, equipped with electronics and a streamlined "hat" to gather crucial oceanic data. Led by John Dabiri, the team aims to deepen our understanding of climate change impacts. These jellyfish swim up to 4.5 times faster than their natural counterparts, This increased their swimming speed from about 2 to 6 centimeters (0.8 to 2.4 in) per second and cost only $20 each. presenting a cost-effective alternative to traditional research vessels, which can incur operational costs exceeding $50,000 per day.</p><p><a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/OceanExploration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OceanExploration</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/ClimateChange" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClimateChange</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/BiohybridRobots" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BiohybridRobots</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/CaltechResearch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CaltechResearch</span></a> <a href="https://flipboard.social/tags/JellyfishTechnology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JellyfishTechnology</span></a></p>
