Yes, I'm using #Lemmy as our federated version of a #Tech #Programming #support #forum / #StackOverflow (but still in the early days with numbers). These are the 2 #Communities that I created/admin...

#WinDev programming.dev/c/windows_dev

From posting there I've found that although there is some cross-over between people on Lemmy and people on Mastodon, it's not as much as you might think (maybe because Twitter refugees here, #Reddit refugees there?)

There are SO MANY ways that mutual aid reduces waste and increases sustainability. We can't often engage in sustainable practices when we're broke and burned out. Your help—money, labor, emotional support—doesn't just affect your direct community; it helps every living being, and generations to come.

Support Bots: Because Frustration Builds Character

How hard is it to have an AI chatbot spit out the correct answer to a user’s question about a software interface, when the AI’s only job is to deal with queries about that one product?

Quite hard, apparently.

I went on a rant yesterday after my experience using the support chatbot on WordPress.com.

Side note: The answer was simple, and should have been obvious to me, but the thought of having to unpublish an article to not have it automatically share to social media when updated just didn’t occur to me.

When I post a new article, WordPress asks me if I want to share it and or send it as a newsletter, so why not ask when I update?

The post screen gives the option to select if it will be shared to the Fediverse when I update right in the sidebar – so why not do the same for the other platforms? Bad UX.
