Sie können auch viele Informationen über suchende Menschen sammeln und für unterschiedliche Zwecke nutzen. Vielfach steht eine Kategorisierung und Einfächerung für zielgruppengerechtes Marketing dahinter. Aber was weiß man schon. Gerade wenn es um Datenschutz geht, sind Suchmaschinen anzustreben, die sich möglichst nur darauf beschränken, Suchergebnisse zu liefern.</p><p></p><p>Die von <a href="https://statcounter.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">StatCounter</a> gesammelten Daten für Europa von 04/24 bis 04/25 zeigen weiterhin eine klare Dominanz von Google, gefolgt von Bing, Yandex und Yahoo. Immerhin <strong>4,86% nutzen eine datenschutz-freundliche Suchmaschine</strong>. Das ist nicht viel, aber mehr, als zu erwarten war.</p><p>Bei den datenschutz-freundlichen Suchmaschinen gibt es zwei unterschiedliche Ansätze, auf die ich etwas genauer eingehen möchte.</p><p><strong>Metasuchmaschinen – Anonymisierung des Benutzers</strong></p><p><a href="https://duckduckgo.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">DuckDuckGo</a> (US), <a href="https://www.ecosia.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Ecosia</a> (DE) und <a href="https://www.startpage.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Startpage</a> (NL) sind – vereinfacht gesprochen – nur Frontends für die Suchindizes von Google oder Bing – bzw. Metasuchmaschinen im Fachjargon. Sie leiten Anfragen anonymisiert weiter. Google sowie Microsoft erhalten keine Information darüber, wer welche Suchanfrage gestellt hat. Ein Tracking, sowie eine Kategorisierung sind genauso wenig möglich, wie eine personalisierte Werbung.</p><p>Zu erwähnen sei auch noch <a href="https://metager.de/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">MetaGer</a>. Dies ist eine deutschsprachige Metasuchmaschine. Sie wurde an dser Universität Hannover entwickelt und wird von einem Verein in Kooperation mit der Universität Hannover betrieben. MetaGer verwendet im Hintergrund den Yahoo-Index. Zur Deckung der Kosten wird eine Gebühr eingehoben.</p><p><strong>Unabhängiger Index</strong></p><p><a href="https://qwant.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Qwant</a> ist eine eigenständige Suchmaschine mit Sitz in Frankreich und hat sich dem Datenschutz verschrieben. Das Unternehmen betreibt einen eigenen Suchindex und hat somit keine Verbindung zu den großen Suchmaschinen. Die Server werden in Europa gehostet. Mehrheitseigner ist die Caisse des Dépôts</p><p>Nette Nebenerscheinung: Mit <a href="https://www.qwantjunior.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Qwant Junior</a> gibt es auch eine Suchmaschine für Kinder.</p><p>Seit 2024 gibt es eine <strong>Kooperation zwischen Qwant und Ecosia</strong> zur Entwicklung eines gemeinsamen Suchmaschinenindex. Dazu wurde das Unternehmen <a href="https://www.eu-searchperspective.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">European Search Perspective</a> (EUSP) mit Sitz in Paris gegründet und soll zukünftig ein Gegenpol zu den US-Suchindizes sein, die aktuell mehr als 90% der Suchen abhandeln.</p><p><strong>So einfach steigst du um</strong></p><p>Die einzelnen Suchmaschinen bieten Add-Ons für Chrome, Firefox, Brave, LibreWolf und Co. an. Somit erfolgen künftige Suchanfragen automatisch über die gewünschte Suchmaschine. </p><p>Und das geht sehr einfach: Suchmaschine ansurfen, eine Info über das mögliche Add-On wird in der Regeal angezeigt, Add-On installieren und schon bist du fertig. </p><p>Ab sofort surfst du durchs Internet, ohne den großen Konzernen deine Daten zu überlassen.</p><p><strong>Ja, aber …</strong></p><p>Unsere Suchen verraten sehr viel über uns:</p><ul><li>Gesundheit: Suche nach Krankheiten, Medikamenten, Ärzten usw. Das verrät einiges über den Gesundheitszustand</li><li>Finanzieller Status: Welche Produkte suchen wir? Sind es Produkte des alltäglichen Bedarfs? Hochpreisige Premiumartikel? Für welche Marken interessieren wir uns? Wohin soll der nächste Urlaub gehen? Welche Geburtstagsgeschenke suchen wir?</li><li>Rechtliche Probleme: Suche nach Anwälten, Gerichten, Gesetzen und dergleichen.</li><li>Interessen: Unsere Suchen verraten sehr viel über unsere Interessen und Hobbies, welche Musik, Filme wir mögen, die bevorzugten Buchautor*innen usw.</li><li>Berufliche Aufgaben &amp; Herausforderungen: Welche Software verwenden wir, welche Probleme haben wir damit? Steht ein Jobwechsel ins Haus? Will man aufsteigen, oder ist man kürzlich aufgestiegen?</li><li>Geheimnisse: Durch zahlreiche Suchabfragen lassen sich aber auch spezielle Neigungen und Bedürfnisse herleiten.</li><li>Verortung: Nach welchen Orten bzw. in welchen Regionen suchen wir, wo bewegen wir uns hauptsächlich?</li></ul><p>Diese Liste ist bei Weitem nicht vollständig und kann fast nach Belieben erweitert und verfeinert werden. Suchmaschinen kennen uns mitunter besser, als Lebenspartner*innen. Das sollte uns durchaus zu denken geben.</p><p><strong>Fazit</strong></p><p>Es gibt bei Suchmaschinen eine sehr konzentrierte Machtstellung und das ist auf jeden Fall für sämtliche Benutzer*innen schlecht. Daher rate ich zumindest zur Verwendung einer Metasuchmaschine. Damit ist zwar noch immer eine Abhängigkeit zu einem US-amerikanischen Dienst gegeben, aber zumindest werden keine persönlichen Daten weitergegeben. Ganz klar empfehle ich die Verwendung eines europäischen Suchindex, wie es Qwant anbietet. Wie sich EUSP entwickelt, bleibt abzuwarten.
