My #NixOS #setup. Even when I #ported it once to #another #machine, I #forgot to add the #user #password. So I kind of went into a #ghost user #session. All i did is #reboot and chose previous #generation corrected my #config and that's all. No need for #backup, #rescue #disk etc. I corrected my configs, now it's truly portable. All my setup is #rock #solid #stable and never #broke it though I use a lot of #unstable #packages. #Nix and #NixOS are just

Whilst it's not been forever regarding how long I've been using #Linux, I've used #Debian for more than 10 years now, perhaps as many as 15.
So, my answer is simple. #Debian
I always prefer to run #Stable releases, so I am presently on #Bookworm and will in-line upgrade to #Trixie when 13.1 is released, just as I've done for perhaps the last 3 or 4 major releases.

There are all too often complaints about #Debian: "why does it have such old packages". There is a really lovely property of properly maintained stable distribution. The only changes made are to make it more stable and more secure, e.g. targeted bug fixes only. New bugs come with new features, or even more general, new bugs come with new code. So if a release of software is already addressing the need, then new features are just adding more risk of problems
One thing about running Debian Trixie (i.e. testing)... running 'apt update && apt upgrade' every day or two gives lists of things to update more like a typical Arch Linux day than it does Debian stable. LOL S'all good, man.

TFW you realize that your /etc/apt/sources.list points to a specific release, not "stable", and time has really caught up with you.
It was time for a few incremental upgrades... 
[Wine 10.0] the latest Windows compatibility Layer for Linux, has a stable Release. 
The headliner for this release is support for ARM64EC, the application binary interface (ABI) used for Arm apps in Windows 11. Also the release notes say that contains "over 6,000 individual changes" produced over "a year of development effort."
Also in the back of the barn, the stables, with space for two large animals. I'm not sure what was kept there last, looks like cow dung. There used to be horses at some point, too.
When the old man gave us the tour, he pointed at the piles of compacted dung and praised its value as fertilizer. What a salesman (he's right though).
