Don't forget #RetroDECK to emulate all those Nintendo titles! I moved so much of my Switch library to my Steam Deck and dedicated RetroDECK SD card just because its easier!

Huge update for what the #Sony #PlayStation 2 emuator (PXSX2) team are doing
So nice to see what feels like the most complete and polished emulator is still getting such support and future plans. Running this with #RetroDECK on my #SteamDeck (not to mention running Retro Achievements with it!) makes me oh-so-happy
You can emulate those Zelda titles with #RetroDECK on the Steam Deck!
The amount of Switch games I've played on my Steam Deck is...phenomenal.
@flwwhtrbt yeah, I already use #HeroicGamesLauncher on it, and I'd been favoring #EmuDeck so far but I need to give #RetroDECK a try
I also use #Lutris to manage my itch.io and non-store games
Don't forget #RetroDECK to emulate any older system (even up to the Switch/360/PS3 eras!) - and you can add Retro Achievements to that to make it even more interesting. Give your old games and systems some achievements!
Then if you've got any #GOG or #EpicGames games you can use things like #JunkStore or #HeroicGamesLauncher to play those on the Deck with no trouble!!!
I 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 the effort they put in! It shows trust, I suppose - that we're along for the ride, and each significant decision is one they're proud of and talk us through!
I love how #RetroDECK does the same thing, a regular blog post done by @lazorne - I wish everyone from all my fav projects would do this, but I can see why it's the rarity!!!
Now taking recommendations for #PlayStation 2 games to emulate:
Playing via #RetroDECK on my #SteamDeck
Applying HD texture pack mods to each I can, so they're essentially fancy remasters that look the best they can
I'm not big on the #PS2 library, so really any rec's are welcomed for #RetroGaming here!
I haven't got MGS3 there because I'm waiting for the full remake, as with the Tony Hawk games: waiting for the remake!
Current games are below:
I don't know why anyone would buy the #MetalGearSolid collection (achievements, maybe?!) on #Steam, which still commands such a high price, when you can just emulate the original games at such a nice, crisp high level of textures these days.
You can even run them with Retro Achievements, I do through #RetroDECK often!
It just seems odd to me, rewarding them for doing the bare minimum.
With the #SteamDeck at least you get:
Your Steam library (and games sales which are actually sales from so many sources)
#GOG and #EpicGames (and Amazon's titles) able to be played by Heroic or Junk-Store
#RetroDECK will handle emulation of the first Nintendo Switch (alongside like...everything else!)
Game Pass can be handled by XBPlay
Retro Achievements adds a whole element to old games!
Installing mods to PC games on the Deck is a breeze, too
The Steam Deck wins!!!
The #SteamDeck by such a wide margin!
You can play your entire Steam library (and PC games are constantly on heavy sale)
You can play your #GOG and #EpicGames and Amazon games libraries by using Heroic Games Launcher and Junk-Store
You can emulate endless games and systems, up to the first Switch, using #RetroDECK
You can then use Retro Achievements and give old games a new lease on life!
You can stream from your PS5 by using Chiaki
Steam Deck wins!!
If anyone wants a handy lil #emulation guide (with pictures of each step!) written about installing #RetroDECK on their #SteamDeck then I wrote one last year!
It takes you through installing it, then individual tweaks like HD texture packs for emulating #PS2 games, etc.
It might come in handy for some here, anyway!
@flwwhtrbt yes! I loved playing the version on my PS Vita back in the day, but never played the PS1 or other versions. Maybe I’ll look up #RetroDECK I’ve only heard of emuDeck but definitely need to get back into using my Steam Deck again.
Yes! I play WipEout 2097 (I think it has a diff name in the U.S.) and it plays sooooo well. I emulate it through #RetroDECK (my fav emulation suite for the Steam Deck) and with some tweaks it looks really nice!
I think it's a classic case of a game made not meant to look 'hyper realistic' at the time, but instead have a distinct stylistic art to it, like say Wind Waker - they end up aging better than their contemporaries from the time.
Also play the PS3 one the same way!
Neo-Geo games added to RetroDECK It'll be a great weekend

Switched from #EmuDeck to #RetroDeck and couldn't be happier. Better organised, more emulators running and a better experience. Arcade
Atari ST
Intellivision
Dreamcast
Gamecube
And just for fun.... Amiga
I'm just thinking out loud here, but are there many who enjoy #emulation via #PCGaming who might want to do a bit of a weekly or monthly play-along together?
Like a book club for older games?
I know for the #SteamDeck community there is #RetroDECK and #EmuDeck but for desktops themselves the options are many.
Might be nice to all decide on a game to play, then share our thoughts on it via a #?
These things rarely work, or keep up steam...but thinking aloud, it could be fun!
The thing that makes me happiest is seeing comments and shares on this video saying they're going to try it!
Its also a lovely update by #RetroDECK. i love that SRM is now employed inside, so you can add your fav games to the regular game library in Steam!!!
The new #RetroDECK update has arrived! My fav way for #emulation on the #SteamDeck by far.
This update (0.9.0b) brings changes:
SteamRomManager & Steam Sync for easy game imports.
PortMaster for Linux game ports & Ruffle for Flash games.
40% smaller size, faster builds, modular framework.
RetroENGINE lets you launch games directly.
New ES-DE theme, emulator updates, and more!
I AM SO EXCITED!!!
Using #RetroDECK on my #SteamDeck to emulate anything from the beginning of consoles up to even the #PS3 and #Xbox - or my favorite - the Nintendo Switch makes me so happy.
Plus, the UI of RetroDECK is SO DAMN PRETTY!
