Generic Person
This here is a #rant. Bare with me here

Ok, I'll admit that I get very slightly upset when someone calls #Tenacity just #Audacity without networking. However, that's a result of Tenacity's legacy, and I understand. At the end of the day, I don't care. It's nothing, really.

But this? https://xcancel.com/Tantacrul/status/1975097225001984406#m

Well, this is something, so let's start here, and yes I'll take the hit. Yes, people wanted features from newer versions of Audacity, and thus I chose to do a rebase. The work that Audacity devs have done and continue to do is impeccable, and I appreciate and respect them for that. I even think that Audacity 4 is coming along really awesome, and I applaud them for that. I even agree that we probably can't come close to changes on such a mass scale because we're smaller. Things will take time since we're smaller. Things will be longer since we're smaller. Regardless, I tip my hat to the hard work that the Audacity devs have done. It's truly remarkable and impeccable, so keep it up! 😄

Now to say that we, on the other hand, threw away our hard work, however, is, in my opinion, at least, inaccurate. If that was the case, the rebase would've been done months ago already.

I mean, really?

I did NOT spend 9 months trying to get some of our most important features ported over, including the Matroska importer/exporter, written by @robux4; our dynamic compressor, written by a former Audacity contributor; and plenty of others. Themes are pending due to stuff I had planned for years. Don't forget about @be's build system rewrite too. I genuinely thank you for that too.

I would NEVER throw ANY of that away even if I wanted too. I take value in all our work, and I hope it shows by the final 1.4 release.

TL;DR: At the end of the day, we've both done hard work, more so upstream than us. However, I don't like discounting anyone else's hard work either.
