Unser Abbe Center of Photonics entwickelt aktuell einen hochpräzisen, laserunterstützten Prozess zur Glasbearbeitung – Laser Assisted Machining (LAM).

Durch gezielte Erwärmung mit dem Laser wird das Glas lokal weicher (duktiler) und lässt sich dadurch besser formen (zerspanen). Ziel: weniger Werkstückschäden + gezielte Bearbeitung komplexer Oberflächen.

Der Europäische Fonds für Regionale Entwicklung (EFRE) unterstützt das Projekt mit mehr als 750.000 Euro. 🙏🇪🇺

Excitons are elementary excitations in solids. A research team at the University of Innsbruck has now devised a method to specifically manipulate dark excitons in semiconductor quantum dots. They have succeeded in controlling these optically inactive quasiparticles and harnessing their unique properties for the storage and processing of quantum states.
