Finished my PC-Engine Duo project, only took 8 months. This is my beloved Duo which I got in the 90's, my 1st PC-Engine. Re-capped, some caps were leaking and started corroding the volume wheel (cleaned and fixed), installed an RGB amp, installed an FRAM mod and didn't have to do anything for the drive/laser. #pcengine #retromodding #retrogaming #hudsonsoft

Took the opportunity to redo the wires from the Hu6260 to the RGB amp with better silicone wire that @aergan.com recommended (thanks!). But will have to stop here because I can't dremel at this hour. #pcengine #retrorevival #retromodding

I was hoping to show off the Duo reassembled, but once I turned it on, I am missing colors. I knew right away what caused it. I ran the RGB wires via the front and there is not enough room once the top shell is screwed back on. It will pinch the wiring and lose signal. #pcengine #retromodding

Wasn't sure if I had to remove the cap/battery, so I asked Zaxour and got an answer right away. It can be left it or removed, doesn't matter. So then I tested it and it works! Time to close her up now. Good for another 10 years at least. #pcengine #retromodding #retrorevival #PCエンジン

Soldered @zaxour.bsky.social's NEC FRAM Adapter in place. Cleaned up, Positioned the FRAM chip (FM16W08-SG) and soldered it onto the adapter. Let's see if it works. #pcengine #retromodding #PCエンジン

Removed the SRAM chip. Used low melt solder, flux and the heat gun. Then cleaned it up with IPA. #pcengine #retromodding #PCエンジン

Testing the CD drive and seems to be still working fine, no need to tune. But I got the backup ram not initialized message, so had to reset, press SELECT instead of RUN to go into the backup memory menu. Initialized it and all is good now. Except that I can still do an FRAM mod... So this project is not finished yet. #pcengine

In 1st image there are small dark dots (zoomed in image of the jailbar fixed image). Just tested the Duo connected directly to the TV and the picture has no more dark dots. The culprit was the SCART coupler I had in between. Quite satisfied with the picture quality now. #scart #pcengine

Finally made a good SCART cable. Took a long time coz started many half projects in between. Tested and jailbars, so I used Tim Worthington's guide to replace two ceramic caps with bigger 4.7uF ones and the jailbars were gone. Accidentally deleted the before photo of the caps. #pcengine #PCエンジン
