coffe☕<p>I need some advice!<br>I'm looking for a small, quiet, and affordable media PC that's Linux-ready. It doesn't need to handle gaming or editing — just 4K video and audio playback to a receiver, serving files from a hard drive. Any recommendations?</p><p><a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/HomeTheaterPC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeTheaterPC</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/LinuxHelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxHelp</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/MiniPC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MiniPC</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/Kodi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Kodi</span></a> <a href="https://social.piewpiew.se/tags/Jellyfin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Jellyfin</span></a></p>
Billal Dellal<p>Thinking of switching to Linux...<br>I've read that it's more flexible in terms of "modifying" open source softwares (mainly photography) to have my own versions and simply has more freedom. The Peter Pan of Nerdery™ 🇦🇺🏜️<p>Linux Mint. Create new launcher on desktop. Set it to open Xed with a particular config file. Works great, but the editor is "glued" to my mouse where I have to click to choose the position before I can use the editor. Want window to just open where it was opened before without the bastard being glued to my mouse to start. How fix? <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxhelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linuxhelp</span></a></p><p>Edit: FIXED</p><p>What's the config file, I hear you say? ESPANSO! Woot woot. Yep. Espanso installed and working.</p>
Rusty<p>Also falls das jemand hier interessiert: Ich hab jetzt rausgefunden, wie der zweite Bildschirm erkannt wird. Ich muss den Laptop hochfahren, bevor ich die Steckdosenleiste anschalte. Nur dann erkennt <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/tuxedoos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tuxedoos</span></a> den Bildschirm. Danach schaltet ich den Strom an, dann erst den Bildschirm. So läuft das. <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/linuxhelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linuxhelp</span></a> <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/problemsolved" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>problemsolved</span></a> <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/Linuxtipp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linuxtipp</span></a></p>
Rusty<p>Bildschirm hängt mit HDMI am USB-C-Hub. Daran schließe ich dann mit meine Laptops an. Auf meinem Arbeitsrechner mit Win11 wird der Bildschirm immer erkannt. Am privaten <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> Laptop mit <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/tuxedoos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tuxedoos</span></a> und <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/ubuntu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ubuntu</span></a> ist das abhängig von tja keine Ahnung. <a href="https://troet.cafe/tags/linuxhelp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linuxhelp</span></a></p>

The login screen shows an eye in the password box, as though for facial identification. But I can't find out how to do that. I went down a rabbit hole with this stupid "howdy" program which would NOT install despite wasting half an hour trying. Is there something built in that I'm missing? Just want to do a Windows Hello type thing.
