Aptivi<p><strong>KDE Plasma 6.5 brings quick settings&nbsp;toggles!</strong></p><p>KDE Plasma 6.5 is an upcoming KDE desktop environment version that brings a ton of awesome features that make it easier to use than the current Plasma 6.4 desktop. This version is a promising release that will improve your Plasma desktop with many improvements and new features.</p><p>Last week, the team showcased the <a href="https://blogs.kde.org/2025/08/02/this-week-in-plasma-day/night-theme-switching/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">day/night theme switching</a> for wallpapers where the desktop would automatically switch between day and night themes based on the time of the day in your location. This week, the KDE development team brought some of the <a href="https://blogs.kde.org/2025/08/09/this-week-in-plasma-quick-toggles-in-system-settings/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">most interesting changes</a> that allow you to quickly configure your system right from the Settings app.</p><p>In the settings sidebar, pages in the System Settings app can now interact with the parent window, making quick toggles and other exported actions possible. This is to save time from having to go to a settings section to be able to, for example, turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Currently, this is only rolled out to Bluetooth settings, but, in future development iterations of Plasma 6.5, Wi-Fi and other settings should use this feature soon.</p><p>The pages can also mark themselves as “not relevant” when certain conditions for accessing the settings page are not met. For example, if a settings page requires certain hardware, and your PC doesn’t have it, that page will no longer be accessible. This saves time from having to go to a certain settings page when you discover that none of the options there are relevant for your PC.</p><p>KDE Plasma 6.5 will be released later this year, and it includes many bug fixes and general improvements that make your desktop more stable and reliable.</p><p><a href="https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-in-white-dress-shirt-and-white-pants-sitting-on-floor-using-macbook-7552374/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Photo by Anna Nekrashevich</a></p><p><span></span></p><p><a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde/" target="_blank">#KDE</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde-plasma/" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde-plasma-6/" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma6</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde-plasma-6-5/" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma65</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/linux-desktop/" target="_blank">#LinuxDesktop</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/news/" target="_blank">#news</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/plasma-6-5/" target="_blank">#Plasma65</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/tech/" target="_blank">#Tech</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/technology/" target="_blank">#Technology</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/update/" target="_blank">#update</a></p>

Aptivi<p><strong>KDE Plasma 6.5 features automatic day/night theme&nbsp;switching</strong></p><p>An upcoming version of KDE Plasma 6.x series, which is Plasma v6.5, incorporates a feature that many people have been waiting for since the introduction of light/dark mode themes. This feature is called <a href="https://blogs.kde.org/2025/08/02/this-week-in-plasma-day/night-theme-switching/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Automatic Day/Night Theme Switching</a>, and it uses the sunrise and the sunset times, configured for your location, to automatically change the desktop themes according to the time of the day.</p><p>To be more specific, if you’re using your computer during the day time, KDE Plasma 6.5 will automatically change the theme of your desktop to the light theme of your choice. In the contrary, if you’re using your desktop during the night, the desktop environment will change the theme to the dark theme of your choice.</p><p>You can also choose which of the global themes are shown right from the quick settings, making configuration easier and faster than ever. Alongside that, you can also turn on automatic day/night theme switching from there, too! This means that you have two ways to enable this long-awaited feature.</p><p>This feature will land to the final version of KDE Plasma 6.5, which will be released <a href="https://community.kde.org/Schedules/Plasma_6#Future_releases" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">on October 21st</a>. However, distributions may take time to utilize this version of KDE Plasma, depending on what distribution you’re running. For example, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS will use this version of KDE Plasma, while Arch Linux picks up the latest version in the matter of days.</p><p><a href="https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-in-brown-jacket-sitting-on-armchair-while-using-her-laptop-6893805/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Photo by Mikhail Nilov</a></p><p><span></span></p><p><a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde/" target="_blank">#KDE</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde-plasma/" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde-plasma-6/" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma6</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/kde-plasma-6-5/" target="_blank">#KDEPlasma65</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/linux/" target="_blank">#Linux</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/linux-desktop/" target="_blank">#LinuxDesktop</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/news/" target="_blank">#news</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/tech/" target="_blank">#Tech</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/technology/" target="_blank">#Technology</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/update/" target="_blank">#update</a></p>
