There is an interesting article in today’s ‘National’ discussing Danny Dorling’s observations that Scottish independence is well underway - by stealth with a growing gap between our country and the rest of the UK. Slowly slowly catchee monkey?

Now to follow it up with financial and political independence.

Today in Labor History June 7, 1866: 1,800 Fenian raiders were forced back to the U.S. after looting and plundering the Saint-Armand and Frelighsburg areas in Canada. The Fenian raiders were members of the Fenian Brotherhood (Irish Republican Brotherhood), a U.S.-based Irish Republican organization that attacked British installations in Canada. Their goal was Irish independence from the UK. They carried out raids in 1866, as well as 1870-1871. The IRB also took part in the ill-fated Fenian Rising, in Ireland, in 1867.

The 4 judges named are ALL #women: Solomy Balungi Bossa of Uganda, Luz del Carmen Ibáñez Carranza of Peru, Reine Adelaide Sophie Alapini Gansou of Benin, & Beti Hohler of Slovenia.

The #ICC has responded in a stmnt, saying it "deplores" the sanctions, which were "a clear attempt to undermine" its #independence.

The #ICC slammed the move, saying it was an attempt to undermine the #independence of an international #judicial institution that provides #hope & #justice to millions of victims of "unimaginable atrocities."

Both judges Bossa & Ibanez Carranza have been on the ICC bench since 2018. In 2020 they were involved in an appeals chamber decision that allowed the ICC prosecutor to open a formal investigation into alleged #WarCrimes by American troops in #Afghanistan.
