This seems apt to watch given today’s developments in the Middle East, as it seems the world is being thrust into another stupid, pointless, unnecessary, probably illegal armed conflict.

In the following posts, there will be a quote from the very end of this Oscar® winning documentary which will seem, sadly, an evergreen statement.

Very highly recommended.

📸 💻 **Can You Believe Your Own Eyes? Not With A.I. Op-Docs**

The New York Times

"_Some say there are an estimated 45 billion cameras on earth today, giving humankind access to perspectives far beyond our own reach. But the very tool that could help us understand the world is increasingly used to distort it. With A.I., this distortion has reached a new level. When any photo or video can be manufactured, what happens to the camera’s credibility? Can we still trust what we see?_"

Sheffield DocFest is this weekend and if you're in the area I highly recommend it. I've been for the last few years and seen some fantastic, fascinating documentaries that I wouldn't have caught otherwise. Also cinemas have air con. The Crucible theatre in particular is beautifully cool in this weather, if you're seeking respite from the heat.

SALLY 2025
The docu of the first American woman to go to space — remained closeted throughout her life, but gave her partner Tam O’Shaughnessy the go-ahead to attribute herself accurately in her obituary. Tam is the “true star” of this stirring film about Sally’s life and her relationship, wrote Drew, “delightfully blunt, funny and charming, and matter-of-fact.”

🤩 Hush Line Member Highlight! Margie Ratliff is the founder of the Documentary Participants' Empowerment Alliance. As someone who has been thrust into the spotlight with little insight or consent into the real-world consequences of being featured in a major #documentary, Margie personally understands how people's lives can be upended by trying to share their stories with the world. She's trying to fix that.
