So these are a bit old, but behold, a weird looking insect I saw in my back yard back in May, and rainbow lorikeets eating figs in my tree.

Beetle magnets will be back when my shop reopens on the 12th of July!

So far there is only one coneflower blooming in the garden. It has attracted hordes of 1) carpet beetles (which feed on pollen as adults); 2) thrips; and 3) minute pirate bugs and 4) whirligig mites, which both eat the thrips.

Ich bringe mal mit der Megacoelum infusum-Larve etwas Farbe in den Tag. Die Art bewohnt verschiedene Laubbäume (hier gefunden an Quercus) an locker bewachsenen, sonnigen Standorten.

I was having tea on the balcony when a little bug flew into the cup. I fished it out, blew gently to dry it, and set it on the rails to go its own way. Its own way was, apparently, right back into my teacup. I guess it liked tea.
