• It has aging specs but I can still see this being useful as like a convertible for someone who wants to have something like a teleprompter - Tablet with decent enough keyboard to actually write their scripts or like someone wanting or needing a versatile machine to make some money doing Tech Support onsite or whatever.

I sincerely hope it'll find good hands to make use of it. Even if it's just someone who wants to fiddle with like #WindowsXP #TabletPC Edition or #Windows7 or just needs a convenient Linux Terminal... they can plonk into a tablet holder...

@cleantext I mean, lets be realistic: #Netbooks that struggled to run #WindowsXP ain't something people were crazed about (besides the excellent #EeePC which came with it's nicely customized #Xandros-based #Linux desktop that put the 7" 480x800px screen to good use!)…

• OFC one would today rather pick a #Pi0 v1.3, #Pi0W or #Pi0W2 which are all faster, more power efficient and cheaper instead of hardware (soon) old enough to legally buy liquor in Germany.

Not to mention being able to basically run everything off 5V makes it trivial to "outsorce" the "power problem" to some cheap USB powerbank with multiple ports.

• So yeah, "#Ghettohacking" a #Laptop that can even do a #GUI is cheap and relatively easy these days...

On one hand I'd suppose I would likely also have support issues with a 12 yr old laptop on #Windows. I mean it would be unfair for #nvidia to still support a chipset that launched for #WindowsXP / #Windows7 on a modern Windows11 kernel.

But recompiling and then _debugging_ a failed kernel build is asking a bit much of the average user.

Granted I didn't have anything better to do that Saturday and I just thought that I'm getting tasked building them some custom #WindowsXP-DVD with like nLite but include all his favorite Software as well so after a few hours of backing up a machine, building a custom Windows and then letting that install unattended I'd merely setup the restore of.his.files and be off the races.

• My reaction when I saw the parts in the Garage was like: "You w8t m8? The fuq you did not!" and they were like: "I thought you were a Level 1337 pro. Don't ask, just plug together that shit!

And it just worked, even tho it waa eery looking at a huge watercooler/dispenser bottle being used as a reservoir, half full with dry ice subliminating and the other half being 1-Propanol just sloshing in it like it's just huge crushed Ice chunks and water.

• Personally I remember the days when everyone used #nLite and then "slipstreamed" all the #Updates and #Drivers and #Tools into the image for #UnattendedInstall...
