A good day for politics in the UK, I would say. No more harassment, investigation, prosecution or conviction of pregnant people regarding potentially illegal abortions in England and Wales*.

And on a very different matter indeed, the Scots Language now has official status in law, joining Welsh in that position.

Well done to both Parliaments!

*Abortion law is wholly devolved in Northern Ireland and Scotland, which is why today's decision only affects people in England and Wales.

"The acceptable range of opinion is so narrow it is almost nonexistent."

"How did this happen, & what can we do to fight back?"

Talk: "Can American democracy withstand the dark enlightenment?"

"What happens when libraries, universities, cultural institutions, & a free & independent media are intimidated, dismantled or destroyed - as is happening in America right now?"

This struggle is between Good-Faith vs Bad-Faith actors.

Tech is used to limit the autonomy of asylum seekers in the UK with the ASPEN payment card.

The Home Office can monitor spending habits and track where the card is used.

Community can't be built when people's choices over the most basic aspects of daily life are controlled.

So financial tools, such as the ASPEN card must never serve as a means of surveillance or control.

Refugees have specific needs when it comes to digital security and data protection. This #RefugeeWeek, ORG calls for #DigitalSanctuary for refugees, migrants and asylum seekers 🧡

This means having better protections and more control over their digital identity and data, so they can stay safe and protected online as well as offline.

#LINO #UKPol #Labour A pretty fair analysis. Quite depressing the casual way he refers to those with access to the levers of power. That needs deconstructing. How and why folk with good political nous are excluded from those positions has always baffled me. Labour has adopted the Tory 'dog in a manger' approach to 'advancement' within the party. Folk like myself, 'wrong side of the tracks' 'wrong schools' 'anti-establishment' stand no chance.
