Sailboat Dancing in the Waves is a handmade watercolor painting in portrait format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. A small white sailboat with a slender white sail is surrounded by abstracted lively waves in varying shades of light and dark blue, blue-green and turquoise, dancing up and down in the waves. On board the boat is a person dressed in bright orange tones enjoying a beautiful summer day on the waters of a lake or ocean. The painting is done in loose sweeping brushstrokes. Part of the background has been left white and loose splashes of color in the blue tones of the waves enhance the impression of the liveliness of the water. The orange splash of color representing the person provides an intense color contrast to the blue waves, attracting the viewer's attention.
