I've worked my whole career in manufacturing in the #LA area and when you get out of an office and onto the floor the majority of conversations happen in Spanish. @young_harbinger Good for you for asking and I hope you get feedback from Black organizers. I recall becoming aware of what I think of as Black American Culture in the 70's. As a white person it was like watching from the outside, and like you, I didn't want to seem an intruder, or like I was ogling them, or that I thought they cared about my approval (as white) or my assent.
I was so happy for them, for their cohesion and their joy.
They've been fighting this battle for a long time. #Respect
