#PopeLeoXIV plans to canonize Peter To Rot, a village catechist from #PapuaNewGuinea who was murdered by the Japanese in 1945 for his faith. The Japanese were losing #WW2 and blamed the Catholics for holding worship services and praying. He was eventually imprisoned and then murdered when he refused to stop holding services or praying.
