Visiting a person in an old folks home today and she opined that she ‘had to give them the benefit of the doubt’. I suggested to her this might be an old fashioned approach to life since people nowadays tended to judge others quite quickly. It’s an interesting thought that her doubt as to their character/actions was a benefit to them, a positive doubt not a negative one. Comments welcomed, points awarded for being amusing. for reference I'm looking for
- 512GB+ storage
- 8GB+ RAM (preferably 16GB+)
- 15 inches or higher!!!
- something equivalent to or better than a 10th gen i5
- preferably not plastic because I'm scared of it cracking again but still

fingerprint sensor would be really cool but not necessary. I prefer fuller keyboards (i.e. with a numpad) but I could compromise here.

I'm 28, and I'm an unemployed and neurodivergent trans woman, and I feel completely incapable of having a job.
I've been living in mainland Portugal (was from the islands) for a little over 4 months now. I still am not able to get any unemployment or disability benefits, as I believe I should. every day is really hard, everything is a huge chore. I'm working on getting diagnosis for my issues, and I'm on a wait-list for a psychiatrist.

I literally cannot work, I'm suffering even more lately because I lost my partner and best friend of the past 5+ years, and that means I no longer have a significant other who can help me financially, and I'm feeling really lost and desperate. I'm really really afraid of running out of money. I've only been spending money on food and not much else at all, and it's definitely not going to last me another whole month...

if you can, please donate any amount. I'm just trying to cover cost-of-living expenses: bills, (I think it's only my phone carrier rn) medication, (more than 40€ a month), and as I said, food.

I don't have any specific goal in mind, but I think I spent around 300€ on food last month.

Moin Leute ich brauch mal ein bisschen #followerpower von euch. Die große 12 soll jetzt mal nen Laptop bekommen. Ich habe hier noch ein 2014 MacBook Air rumliegen. Normalerweise würde ich das verkaufen, aber das Ding hat vor vier Jahren nen 90€ teuren neuen Akku bekommen der kaum Ladezyklen drauf hat.
So gut werde ich das Ding jetzt nicht verkaufen können, also lieber nutzen bis kaputt.

Jetzt habe ich das zwei Sachen:
1. Hat von euch schonmal jemand so eine MacBook Tatstur mit Tastaturstickern auf ein Standardlayout umgestrickt. Sie muss in der Schule mit Windows arbeiten und dieser Quatsch das das @ bei OSX auf dem L liegt etc. ist einfach scheisse.
2. Für das Teil gibt es kein aktuelles MacOS mehr, Windows werde ich auf nicht auf die Kiste bringen. Linux Mint scheint vom Desktop her ja ähnlich zu sein oder gibt es andere Vorschläge? Wie gesagt in der Schule ist leider Windows angesagt also soll sich das ganze so wenig voneinander unterscheiden wie möglich.
