Carlos SolísFun that you comment that, today I undusted an old router so I can set up a wireless network in my bedroom with less interference than the one my home office's walls are causing. It's so old that the manufacturer already marked it EOL but hey, it has a firmware replacement thanks to #OpenWRT so I'll try to install that later.

The network switch HPE 1920-24G (JG924A) had probably one of the worst management interfaces I've seen (I've seen a few). But it kept up fine, kept running. Now with OpenWRT it's actually a nice (fanless) switch.

HUH!? Since when does the gateway of a network not allowed to be the first address of the network. I have been racking my brain on why an #openwrt config wasn't working only to find that things like iphones, ipads, smart tvs don't like the net gateway to be the first address (e.g. 172.16.0.0). Naturally, Linux has no problem with this.

Got a weird issue with my router (Asus RT-AC88U, #OpenWRT 24.10.1): occasionally, WiFi clients cannot contact any other devices on my LAN except the router itself.

When this happens, I can always still ping 192.168.1.1 (the router), and e.g. 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS), but not e.g. 192.168.1.219 (PiHole DNS server).

I have a hunch that this is somehow related to the settings on the bridge device that unifies WiFi and Ethernet, but I can't find exactly what to look for... 🤔
