Heute zum #FotoMontag gibt es mal etwas mehr Text. Das ist wieder ein Motiv, das ich schon länger im Kopf hatte und das doch mehr Aufwand machte als zuerst vermutet. Vor der großen Forschungshalle der Fakultät für Maschinenbau und Schiffstechnik der Universität #Rostock wollte ich schon länger eine Person einfangen. Die Bedingungen sind allerdings alles andere als einfach. An der Straße davor stehen immer Autos – zum Glück immerhin nur gegenüber. Das schränkt die mögliche Entfernung stark ein und macht ein Ultraweitwinkel-Objektiv erforderlich. Die Straßenseite vor der Halle hat keinen Gehweg – Fußgänger gibt es dort also nicht. Es bleibt nur jemand auf dem Fahrrad als Motiv. Wegen der kurzen Entfernung wäre dieser optisch allerdings vor der Wiese statt vor der Halle zu sehen, wenn man die Kamera auf Augenhöhe hält. Tolle Vorstellung, mit der Kamera knapp über dem Boden, längere Zeit zwischen Autos zu hocken. Und die Kamera schön gerade halten, damit es keine stürzenden Linien gibt. (Dafür eine untere Bildhälfte voller Asphalt.)
Aber irgendwann war trotzdem ein geeignetes Foto gemacht. Und es passte sogar in ein Seitenverhältnis von 65:24. Doch es wirkte irgendwie nicht. Durch die Relation der Abstände wirkt der Radfahrer im Vergleich doch recht groß. Die Ausmaße der Halle kommen nicht so gut rüber. Das war mir im Grunde auch vorher schon klar. Aber da war noch mehr. Es brauchte eine ganze Weile, bis mir dämmerte, dass dieses Foto nur mit einer Rahmung wirkt. Da ich die Nachbearbeitung nur am JPEG per Smartphone/Tablet erledige und weder Bordmittel noch vorhandene Apps diese Aufgabe zufriedenstellend können, musste sogar noch eine weitere App gefunden werden. Mit dem Ergebnis bin ich dann doch einigermaßen zufrieden. Was denkt ihr?

I had wanted to capture a person in front of the large research hall of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology at the University of Rostock for some time. However, the conditions are anything but easy. There are always cars on the road in front of it - fortunately only on the opposite side. This severely restricts the possible distance and makes an ultra-wide-angle lens necessary. The side of the road in front of the hall has no sidewalk - so there are no pedestrians there. The only possible subject is someone on a bicycle. However, because of the short distance, this person would appear to be in front of the meadow instead of the hall if you hold the camera at eye level. It's a great idea to squat between cars for a long time with the camera just above the ground. And keep the camera nice and straight so that there are no falling lines. (But a lower half of the picture full of asphalt).
But at some point a suitable photo was taken anyway. And it even fitted into an aspect ratio of 65:24, but somehow it didn't work. Due to the ratio of the distances, the cyclist looks quite large in comparison. The dimensions of the hall don't come across so well. I was already aware of this beforehand. But there was more. It took quite a while before I realized that this photo would only work with framing. Since I only do the post-processing on the JPEG via smartphone/tablet and neither the on-board tools nor the installed apps can do the job satisfactorily, I even had to find another app. I am reasonably satisfied with the result. What do you think?
