Thor A. Hopland<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://snabelen.no/@snaggletooth" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>snaggletooth</span></a></span> I'm sorry, but I don't follow. Are you saying you could not see the point in securing your email communication because it might end up on a GMail account?</p><p>Does not <a href="https://snabelen.no/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> sign it's emails?</p>
blami<p>I wish multi-function <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/printer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>printer</span></a> makers were willing to support <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/WebDAV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebDAV</span></a> on their hardware as they are to support Google Drive and <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Dropbox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Dropbox</span></a>. Honestly one of the biggest uses of cloud storage for me is to scan/print things. <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/cloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cloud</span></a> </p><p>Would be great if I could scan directly to e.g. <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a> or <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/internxt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>internxt</span></a></p>
Duncan Bayne<p>I see Fastmail is shutting down superuser accounts, and introducing new pricing. With a family of five paying in (currently very weak) AUD, I hope it's still affordable 🤞 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a></p>
Agnes<p>Another huge issue with <a href="https://pdx.social/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> calendar: there is no way to link it with your preferred map app. Trying to navigate to an appointment? Tapping the “Where” field does nothing, because it’s plain text. Trying to add an appointment at a physical location? Manually search for the address, copy/paste, then copy/paste again into your map app when you’re heading out.</p><p>But I’m locked into Apple Calendar for the previous workaround so I might as well get locked into Apple Maps too, I guess 🫠</p>
Agnes<p>I’m trying out <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@fastmail" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>fastmail</span></a></span> but because they don’t offer a widget or a standalone app for the calendar, it takes 4 taps (edit: 2 if you enable the bottom menu) to simply check my calendar for the day 💀</p><p>1) Open <a href="https://pdx.social/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> app<br>2) Open side menu<br>3) Open drop-down menu<br>4) Finally switch to calendar view</p><p>I submitted a ticket to make sure I wasn’t missing anything (edit: workaround is to use <a href="https://pdx.social/tags/iOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iOS</span></a> Calendar app) but is anyone successfully using Fastmail as a <a href="https://pdx.social/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a> Calendar replacement? blami<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/@grumpygamer" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>grumpygamer</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@fastmail" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>fastmail</span></a></span> One reason why I switched to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a> is because it works relatively well with MacOS and iOS native Mail, Calendar, Contacts and even Reminders. You just need to go to Settings &gt; Privacy and Security &gt; Manage App Passwords and Access and if you create app password for iPhone or iPad it will generate a profile that you can import (even on MacOS) and that will set up everything automatically.</p>

blami<p>So the only two providers from a dozen I tried where notifications work as I need are obv <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/iCloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iCloud</span></a> which I already pay for to backup iPhones and iPads and store photos and <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a>. I enrolled to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a> which is not cheap and I am bit worried as they seem to hike prices per what I found. Compared to <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/iCloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iCloud</span></a> they have much better filtering rules (which is not that hard).</p>
Jeff Sikes<p>Just finished moving my email from Proton to Fastmail. The documentation for this makes it sound like the only option for importing your email from Proton is by hand via .eml files in batches of 1,000. :yikes: </p><p>But I was able to use Thunderbird, connected via Proton Bridge, to create MBOX files for each folder and then use the "HEY" import feature in Fastmail. Much easier.</p><p>Thunderbird has an Export tool called "ImportExport Tools NG" that made this possible. Hooray!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fastmail</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Proton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Proton</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Export" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Export</span></a></p>

They’ll ask the US Intel to do it. </p><p>I’ll have to find the email I sent because the last time I looked their data storage was Aus based. Now I’m wondering how it’s stored? Encrypted or plain text (not that it matters as EM is sent via mail servers and (to my knowledge) plaintext over HTTPS.</p>
Alan<p>I think I'd even be more comfortable if the servers were in the EU, they have some of the strictest privacy laws in the world. </p><p>I just don't get why, if they have no other reason to be in the US, all data is stored there.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/fastmail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fastmail</span></a></p>
