This week's #MirloMondays pick is this unusual release by Jack Quinn, where each track was created whilst finishing a painting. In the artist's own words:

"I wanted to discover a way to marry the two disciplines and I thought it would be an interesting idea to allow my music production skills to train my painting ability if at all possible."

#Music#Musicians#NowPlaying

This is from one of my projects I called Field of Broken Dreams. The track title is called "Like a Snake".

I was trying to take music in a new direction. Minimalist still, but I wanted frequencies to not just leap out but rattle your windows (as one person put it).

TERRY RILEY
Music For The Gift
2018 Europe reissue

THIS is kind of a cool one.

The first section, the 18 minute “Music For The Gift”, was performed by Chet Baker in 1963, and the tape was then manipulated by Riley.
It is the very FIRST use of tape delay to alter return time, and it was done threading the tape and looping it between two tape recorders.

For the song “Mescalin Mix” (inspired by Riley taking LOTS OF IT), the tape-loops extended out Riley's window to a wine-bottle spindle in the yard.
Fucking wild.

Pretty cool record for the late-night hours, particularly if you’re having some whiskey or scotch and a nice smoke. A fun record to just throw on, throw your feet up, and just take in.
