no. you should get a slower laptop

@andymccall I see. I'm just asking because recently I revived an Ausus EeePC with a 32 bit MXLinux.
#DamnSmallLinux revived an aging #EeePC. Here’s how to use it to resurrect any old computer.
Damn Small Linux 2024 Alpha is based on #Debian and antiX, DSL uses Fluxbox and JWM window managers. There is a limited range of pre-installed software, covering web browsers, text editors, code editors, media playback and email. Because it is a Debian-based system, we can install applications using the apt package manager.

#WhatsMissing: A simple, #FrutigerAero-themed, #LowDPI-compatible #Linux #distro / #desktop!
And modern-day #distros really need to reconsider that!
After the bootloader fix it works on the Eee PC 701
@Linux @BrodieOnLinux @rejzor the best #Linux experience any #distro delivered was the #EeePC 701 4G's custom #Xandros Desktop.
It's basically peak #FrutigerAero and it ran off 256MB RAM!
@notthatdelta reminds me that I need to work on @OS1337 and make a image for the #EeePC701-4G...
I found another old EeePC. I think this is a 901 and originally ran Windows. Seems I installed the “Raspberry Pi Desktop Edition” back around 2018 or so…
Here's a 2008 photo of me taken from the EeePC 701 when I was using it to capture time lapses... Maybe I should set it up for that again but with an external camera...
How is your Saturday evening going?
I found my old Asus EeePC 701 (the original netbook!) and it booted up into Ubuntu, which I think I installed in 2018. Battery is totally dead and WiFi networking doesn’t seem to work… may need to plug in Ethernet. But what should I actually do with it?
Für die Kinder den #eeePC aus dem Gerümpel gefischt. Bootet. Ist ist #Ubuntu 11.10 drauf
Hardware: Intel Atom N270 1,16GHz, 1Gb RAM, 14,8 GB SSD
Gibt's was aktuelles, was da halbwegs flüssig drauf läuft?
@ustralien Sadly no, and that's my big disappointment!
@frameworkcomputer decided to choose the #Apple-esque "flat cells below #trackpad" design in the unreasonable #THINN-ness race instead of doing what even the #EeePC and #Sony's #Vaio #P11Z did and have a slot at the back to chug in batteries!
Not that I don't like those #modules, but I'd rather wish for a "#THICC-er" device if that gets me essentials like #Ethernet, #USB-A & -C as well as a #TRRS #HeadphoneJack / #HeadsetJack.
That being said the #Framework is still by a long margin the "least #enshittified" device on the market, and same goes for the #Fairphone devices...
Not to mention they don't have an #UltraNav-Style #Trackpoint and I do use that instead of a Trackpad.
I feel this video by Posy about the design of his first laptop, because just as for me, it was a #netbook. Although I had an Asus #EeePC. I wrote my first paid websites on that machine. And its high portability served me well during a tumultuous period of my life.

The instructions are oddly specific though... "Discharge to 2%, BUT NOT to 0% or bad things will happen!!!"
Ok, I guess I'll sit here and stare at the battery indicator until it reaches 2% and then power it off as fast as I can before it explodes
New battery for this little guy
The black looks slightly weird from the back, but since the display bezel is also black, it doesn't actually look out of place when the computer is open.
#Netbook #Asus #Eeepc 1201T #trashware ospita #BlackArch #Linux!
Era un pò che volevo provare questa distribuzione, con la scusa eseguirò dei test per verificare la sicurezza della mia rete wireless

Booted up my old laptop from 2010.
An ASUS EeePC (1005NA, 32bit, single core Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz, 1GB) running Arch Linux (Linux 2.6.35) with dwm and dmenu as the desktop environment, it's the only laptop I've ever bought for myself ($250 second hand in 2008)
It's just been in a box since 2010. I spilled Strawberry milk on it and broke the keyboard and then I got a job where they bought me a high end MacBook Pro and so has every job since.
@OpenComputeDesign same with many other things.
#GluedInBatteries instead of #ToolfreeSwappableBatteries are just an #excuse for #AntiRepairDesign. points at #Vaio #P11Z & #Fairphone #FP3plus
#SolderedDownRAM & #SolderedDownSSDs were never valid outside #EmbeddedDevices that need to survive harsh envoirments. points at a rugged, ATEX-certified PTT radio for industrial plants
#Repairability saves lives! points at Medical Devices
Want to have more #battery #runtime? We have solutions for that for decades. points at #EeePC and a tool-free, swappable, #aftermarket, high-capavity battery
Personally I'm so pissed off amidst the ongoing #Enshittification that I really need to get the #NUCbook off the ground before my #X230tablet dies.
